A Chartered Mechanical Engineer experienced in carrying out assessments under the machinery directive, PUWER, PED, PSSR, ATEX, DSEAR and design review, conformity to design and initial tests under the fairground and leisure ADIPS scheme.

He has provided mechanical engineering and safety consultancy in a wide range of industries, mainly in the leisure, food and energy sectors. This includes hazard identification and assessment of machinery for conformity with both the European Machinery Directive, enacted in the UK by the Supply of Machinery Regulations and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER).

He has experience providing risk assessments of major process plants in the food processing industry, heavy engineering and scientific establishments as required under the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR). Including carrying out Hazardous Area Classification and verifying the suitability of equipment installed in hazardous areas. He has provided advice to manufacturers of hazardous area equipment on the non-electrical design requirements to meet ATEX certification.

Highly experienced in carrying out risk assessments of process material handling systems, mechanical engineering systems, rail transport systems and the development and delivery of safety related training programmes, in particular machinery safety, pressure systems and DSEAR delivered to major food and energy clients. Experienced in design, construction and management of capital projects in a multi-disciplinary environment and in mechanical safety assessment of machines and equipment

He has prepared and delivered training courses for a variety of bespoke training courses on safety and machinery safety risk assessment to both operators and maintenance staff in a variety of manufacturing companies, construction, mining, tunneling, theme park and water industries.
