Finch consultants to join panel of professionals at BALPPA H&S Conference

BALPPA Health and Safety Seminar

The British Association of Leisure Parks, Piers and Attractions (BALPPA) holds numerous events throughout the year to enable members to engage with each other, share best practice and gain the latest insights on their industry.

On 28th November, BALPPA will be holding their annual health and safety conference at The Drayton Manor Park Hotel and three Finch Consulting experts will be joining the panel of professionals to deliver key talks.

The consultants who have been invited to present are Chartered Engineer and Consultant Tristan Pulford, expert witness and H&S defence lawyer Sue Dearden, and Melvin “flip” Sandell, who is an ex HSE inspector and has lots of experience being interviewed by the media about the use and applicability of H&S legislation in the leisure and entertainment industries, particularly in the fairground, theme park and similar businesses.

Other experts who have also agreed to be part of the panel include H&S prosecution lawyer, Julie Thomas and insurance expert, Robert Kluth so we are expecting some very lively and informative discussions!

The conference agenda is still being finalised, but presentations are expected to run between 10am and 4pm and will cover:

  • The impact of asset integrity management (AIM) and asset life extension (ALE) on ride availability and safety
  • AIM & ALE and defending an incident
  • Crisis management
  • Handling the media and gathering engineering evidence

BALPPA has over 300 members and represents the interests of the UK’s commercial leisure parks, piers, zoos, visitor attractions and family entertainment and indoor play centres.
