Jon is a Chartered Chemical Engineer with over 20 years’ experience of process safety, process engineering, and project management in industry sectors including fine chemicals, metal refining, polymers, and composites on regulated sites across the globe. He has extensive experience of leading process safety analyses, including HAZOP, LOPA, Hazardous Area Classification, and consequence modelling within both project environments and existing operations. Having worked on high hazard sites across the globe, Jon is well versed in the regulatory requirements of COMAH, Seveso, OSHA-PSM and MHI (South Africa) regulations.
Jon has previously led activities to develop process safety management frameworks aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements. He has experience in the development and assessment of process safety competency frameworks, is a trained workplace competency assessor, and has undertaken assessments for top tier COMAH sites in the UK.
In addition to his experience in process safety, Jon also has experience of occupational health and safety programmes of work, including chemical exposure management, manual handling, and workplace vehicle safety management.
Jon’s process engineering expertise is especially focussed on liquid and multiphase mixing and transport, following from his PhD studies completed at the University of Birmingham, and has authored a number of peer-reviewed scientific papers on the topic.
