Dealing with human Factors in the workplace

The 2019 Safety & Health Expo looks set to attract a number of first-time exhibitors when it opens at ExCel in London between 18-20 June 2019. We’re delighted to announce that Finch Consulting is taking an exhibition stand and a team of specialists, including engineers, ex-regulators and lawyers, to help companies mitigate risk in situations that involve engineering, health and safety and environmental aspects.

As well having a physical presence on stand SH1858, senior consultant, Melvin Sandell has been invited to deliver a keynote presentation entitled “Dealing with human Factors in the workplace.”

As a former Inspector with the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE), with over 16 years of insight, Melvin has witnessed first-hand how the complex interactions between engineering, health, safety, and the environment can increase organisational risk.

That said, the increasing reliability of machinery, the need to adhere to stringent health and safety regulations and a rigorous routine of compliance inspections means that mitigating risk has shifted away from machinery based malfunctions towards those resulting from human factors.

Consequently, companies are now shifting some of their focus towards training and knowledge as a way to ensure there is greater control of the human factors that can influence the potential outcome.

Melvin’s half hour presentation starts at 12.40pm in the Operational Excellence Theatre on 19 June and will enlighten you in many ways and help you understand how to ensure operators and managers are fully trained to understand the potential risks and are able to take steps to prevent them.

We are also going to be using the Expo to promote our engineering consulting services which include forensic investigation, legal advice and expert witness services and to profile the wide range of companies we work for who believe engineering confidence is a vital aspect of risk management.

The theme for the Finch stand at location SH1858 is very much focused on helping companies understand risk and for S&H Expo 2019, we’ve specifically chosen to focus on ‘the human factor’ to highlight how behaviours and training influence risk scenarios.

We are certain a visit to the Safety & Health Expo will enlighten you in many ways.
