The Opportunity
As a Consultant / Expert Witness in Industrial Safety, you will combine strategic safety leadership, consultancy and expert witness development. You will:
- Lead complex safety consultancy projects across diverse high-hazard sectors.
- Provide authoritative advice on CDM compliance, risk assessment, audits, and safety management systems.
- Develop expert witness capability, prepare court-ready reports and support litigation.
- Influence senior leaders and boards, helping them shape safety strategy and improve risk decision-making.
- Contribute to Finch’s technical voice through publications, training, industry committees and thought leadership.

What We’re Looking For
- Individuals from consultancy, industry, or regulatory bodies.
- Established career at senior level setting strategy and overseeing safety in complex highly regulated environments.
- Experienced accident investigator, building clear learning-centered investigation reports.
- Have, or aspire to develop, expert witness capability.
Key Requirements
- Relevant qualifications in engineering, health and safety or a related technical discipline.
- Professional membership/chartered status.
- Significant experience in complex, highly regulated or high-hazard environments (10–15 years desirable).
- In-depth knowledge of UK/GB health and safety legislation, industry standards and good practice.
- Strong conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to simplify and communicate complex risk issues.
