The Position
The purpose of the Process Safety Consultant role is to provide expert guidance and support to clients in identifying, assessing, and mitigating process safety risks which are critical across a range of industrial sectors. Currently, Finch is targeting predominantly food and drink and the manufacturing sectors In addition to delivering high-quality technical consultancy, a key focus of the role is to actively contribute to the growth and development of the process safety capability within the business.
This includes internal networking and cross-selling, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture, and helping shape the strategic direction of the team’s services. The role is both client-facing and internally focused, balancing project delivery with building the client base to ensure sustainable growth and excellence in process safety practice.

Key Responsibilities
As a Process Safety Consultant, your role will involve a blend of technical delivery, team development, and business growth responsibilities. Key duties include:
Technical Delivery and Client Support
- Undertake a wide range of process safety consultancy services, including:
- Leading or participating in HAZOPs, HAZIDs, LOPAs, and other Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs)
- Providing process (safety) engineering advise on follow up actions after a PHA
- Providing expert witness services in litigation or regulatory proceedings
- Delivering advisory services and technical guidance to clients across various industries
- Managing and delivering process safety projects from scoping through to reporting
- Contributing to the development and delivery of training, seminars, and learning events
- Supporting research and development into emerging process safety topics and best practices
Business and Team Development
- Play a central role in building and growing the Process Safety team, including recruitment, onboarding, and capability development
- Actively mentor and support colleagues across the company, sharing knowledge and helping others develop their technical and consultancy skills
- Collaborate with the Asset Management and Health & Safety teams to deliver integrated, multidisciplinary projects
- Actively manage your own workload and maintain a forward-looking approach to business planning
- Support the business development by identifying, pursuing, and winning new consultancy work, including contributing to proposals and client engagement activities
- Assist in the identification, writing, and delivery of tender opportunities around the globe.
Organisational Contribution
- Prepare, analyse, and draft high-quality consultancy reports and expert witness statements to meet deadlines and client expectations
- Deal professionally and efficiently with client and third-party enquiries and communications
- Participate fully in internal meetings, knowledge-sharing sessions, and company events
- Engage in continuous professional development by attending internal and external training opportunities
