Body Piercing – Consent Form Compliance

Finch was instructed on behalf of a Claimant who had contracted a series of complex medical complications, following a body piercing.

The claimant had diabetes which was not detailed on the consent form and expert opinion was provided on what should have been included on the consent form, which she signed and what common practice for consent forms was in the industry. In addition, the advice provided to the claimant by the defendant on how to care for the piercing post-procedure was compared with the industry common practice.
