Engineering risk consultancy announces further senior hires

Expansion plans are continuing at Finch Consulting as it announces the appointment of two senior hires.

Martin White and Julia Thomas are part of Finch’s continued growth strategy to strengthen and broaden its capabilities in key areas alongside recent significant investment in training facilities at its Midlands head office in Ashby de la Zouch and ideally located to service Finch clients across the UK.

Julia Thomas is a highly reputed regulatory lawyer specialising in health and safety, and environmental matters. She joins the firm as joint Head of Legal working alongside Sue Dearden and will be integrated into the wider team which includes engineers, health and safety specialists and ex-regulatory inspectors.

Prior to joining Finch, Julia worked in private practice having previously been a Solicitor in the in-house litigation and enforcement advisory team with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

As a senior lawyer specialising in business crime and regulatory matters, Julia will be assisting Finch clients to manage regulatory risk and defending prosecutions related to health and safety and environmental breaches. She will also be responsible for the delivery of training to help clients understand criminal law, legal practice and health and safety legislation.

Martin White is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and joins Finch as a senior consultant from TÜV SÜD a leading international expert in providing testing, product certification, qualification, training and knowledge services.

Joining Finch to grow by expanding his experiences further, Martin brings over 20 years experience in automation, machinery safety and other specialisms . As well as advising clients, he will be instructed as an expert witness and will help build the Finch training portfolio. Finch will be supporting Martin through professional development routes both with the IET and IOSH.

Martin is highly experienced in delivering training and development has qualifications from City & Guilds and the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development. Finch will be fully supporting Martin’s entrepreneurial plans to build a great business in interesting areas.

In her spare time Julia, who lives in London, can be found in the kitchen as she is very keen baker and loves to hold cake sales to raise money for charity as well as just feeding her delights to all those around her.

Martin is from Yorkshire and is an avid cricket fan. He occasionally commentates on matches for Guerrilla Cricket, an internet based commentary service which has listeners around the world.
